SG Sindy!

Throughout my childhood I had two major obsessions...creating art, and my Sindy's. I had the town house, complete with lights, extension, a lift and rooftop pool, not to mention every accessory possible. And as an adult, i've produced six large scale oil paintings of my favourite dolls. So imagine how amazed I was to meet the extremely talented toy designer, Rachel Godfroy Scott, at one of my shows earlier this year, offering to make a bespoke Sindy inspired by my work!
Last week she was kind enough to visit me at my studio with the finished doll, I was completely speechless! Click below to see this very special, unique Sindy....

Sketches & Stencils

Over the past year, in addition to my oil paintings, I have been developing work created using more immediate 'playful' processes. It began with loose pen and ink sketches on paper based on my various originals and prints, and is a technique i've employed a lot over the years, but never considered exhibiting before.
My husband suggested I develop them and produce pieces which could be sold as originals, the work on paper is framed beautifully by my publishers, but I also work on small boxed unframed canvases. For more examples, and how i create these pieces please click on more, there is also a link to my facebook page which has many more examples.

'Lollipop Carousel' film

For the first time I've created & uploaded a short stills film of me painting my most recent piece from start to finish, it can be viewed on Youtube by clicking on the following; 'Carousel' film
I wanted to show the various stages of yellow acrylic sketch, followed by full colour acrylic underpainting, and final oil painting, look out for the location switch too! Midway through I moved into my new studio, shifting a wet painting of this size was no easy task! But it survived, and is set to be released as a canvas print in the new year...if you are interested watch this space!

To view the finished painting please visit the Gallery.

Oz bag promo

To promote the launch of the gorgeous 'Somewhere under the Rainbow' handbag collaboration with Helen Rochfort, we enlisted the help of photographer MARK LILIUS, and reproduced Dorothy in real life holding the bag. The beautiful model/actress Anna Edwards played Dot, and Max the Shitzu (we were unable to find a cairn terrier at such short notice) Toto. Thanks to everyone involved generously giving their time one tornado blowing Saturday a few weeks back!
